Abstract

Fifth-generation (5G) communication, which has much more functions than fourth-generation communication, was officially launched for commercialization in 2020. However, 5G is insufficient to meet all future technology needs after 2030. Next-generation information and communication technology is playing an essential role in attracting researchers, industries, and technical personnel. As for 5G networks, the new wireless communication paradigm, the sixth generation (6G) system, fully supported by artificial intelligence, is expected to be deployed between 2027 and 2030. While some near-future technological solutions will be included in the long-term evolution of 5G, others will require radical change, leading to the standardization of the new 6th generation (6G). This work presents the vision of the future wireless communication (6G), the main requirements, and challenges and highlights the relevant applications of 6G.
